Why This Matters
With so many rollbacks and uncertainties at the federal level, Maryland has the responsibility to continue leading with equitable climate policies that make a tangible difference. Our state has the strongest, most ambitious clean energy goals in the country. Yet, new fossil fuel power plants are being proposed in the 2025 Maryland General Assembly, risking our state’s clean energy goals.
Time is of the essence. The ninety-day legislative session is more than half over. Maryland LCV must pull out all our tools to fight new gas plants - grasstops and grassroots advocacy, targeted paid ads and patch-through calls to key decision-makers, one-on-one meetings with legislators, and other tactics. This all takes resources, and for a fight we didn’t expect given Maryland’s strong clean energy goals!
