Maryland League of Conservation Voters Releases Final Election Endorsements for 2026

Endorsed Candidates Seek to Carry Momentum for Energy Affordability into the Fall

Annapolis, MD (August 4, 2026) – Today, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV)  released its final list of endorsements for the Maryland Senate and House of Delegates for the  2026 election campaign. These endorsements follow the conclusion of a legislative session  where energy affordability took center stage.

The list includes seven candidates, six of whom are challengers. One is a candidate for Senate,  and the rest are candidates for the House of Delegates. Among the endorsees is Del. Andre V.  Johnson, Jr who is seeking re-election to represent District 34A in Harford County. Del.  Johnson earned an environmental score of 100% on the recently released Maryland League of  Conservation Voters 2026 Environmental Scorecard.

“Election of these candidates would allow Maryland to make important pro-energy affordability  and pro-environment gains in both chambers of the legislature,” said Kim Coble, Maryland  LCV’s Executive Director. “At a time when Marylanders are seeing their home utility bills soar  and simultaneously seeing protections for clean air and healthy water rolled back at the federal  level, every vote counts in our legislature.

Lara Westdorp (District 4) is the lone Senatorial endorsee. In addition to Delegate Johnson,  Jerry Donald (District 4), Alleria Stanley (District 4), Heidi Schmidt (District 31), Anthony  Lyon (District 34B) and Corynne Courpas (District 42C) were endorsed for House seats.

In the recently concluded primary elections, 98% of Maryland LCV-endorsed candidates won  their races. In addition, 99% of incumbents who earned a 100% on this year’s scorecard won  their primary race.

Since 1979, Maryland LCV has proudly campaigned to elect pro-conservation candidates.  Before each state election, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) board  of directors evaluates the voting records of incumbents as well as candidate responses to  comprehensive questionnaires and interviews before making endorsement decisions.
