Maryland League of Conservation Voters Makes Second Round of Endorsements for the 2026 Election Cycle
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Endorsements include 23 environmental stalwarts in Senate and House, Plus One Challenger
ANNAPOLIS, MD (February 5, 2026) —
Today, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) released its second wave of endorsements for the Maryland Senate and House of Delegates in the 2026 election cycle. This round comes on the heels of Maryland LCV’s first round of endorsements in January. These endorsements occur at a time when Maryland has the opportunity to be a national leader in lowering high energy costs, taking climate action, and promoting environmental justice.
The list of endorsed candidates includes three Senators, 19 Delegates, and one challenger. The challenger is Josh Hastings in Wicomico County’s District 38B.
“State legislators’ work is as important as ever,” said Maryland LCV Executive Director Kim Coble. “Marylanders’ energy bills continue to rise, and the incumbents we have endorsed have shown they will prioritize ratepayers’ wallets as well as clean air, healthy water, and resilient communities.”
Hastings is a small business owner in Wicomico County and has served two terms on the County Council. Raised on a farm, Hastings has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to the environment and equity for all.
“Josh is exactly the kind of Delegate the House needs,” Coble said. “Throughout his time on the Wicomico County Council, he has shown a commitment to a clean, healthy environment for everyone in his community. Maryland LCV is proud to endorse him.”
“Having proudly grown up on an Eastern Shore farm and spent a career protecting natural resources and managing land conservation, I’m honored to receive the MDLCV endorsement,”
Hastings said. “As a State Delegate, I will seek science-based, consensus-driven policies that radically improve the lives of people and the health of the planet.”
The endorsed Members — three Senators and 19 Delegates — have consistently demonstrated their commitment to environmental issues. Each has a high lifetime voting record on Maryland LCV’s Scorecard for lawmakers, as well as a strong record of leadership and partnership.
Additional Maryland LCV endorsements are expected in the coming weeks.
For more than 45 years, Maryland LCV has proudly campaigned to elect pro-conservation candidates. Before each state election, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) board of directors and staff evaluate the voting records of incumbents as well as candidate responses to comprehensive questionnaires before making endorsement decisions.
