Maryland LCV Statement on Governor Moore’s Signing of Three Key Environmental Bills
Annapolis MD – Today, at a ceremony at Tradepoint Atlantic in Sparrows Point, Gov. Wes Moore signed three key pieces of environmental legislation that passed in the 2023 General Assembly session: The Promoting Offshore Wind Energy Resources Act, the Advanced Clean Truck Rule (ACT), and the Governor’s Energy and Transportation bill, which provides critical support to fully and expeditiously implement the Clean Trucks Act. In response, Maryland LCV released the following statement from Maryland LCV Executive Director Kim Coble:
““These three bills represent a significant step forward for Maryland because they set our state on an aggressive and strategic pathway to meeting Governor Moore’s goal of 100 percent clean energy by 2035. The achievements made by the 2023 legislature and the Moore Administration jumpstart Maryland’s transition to zero-emission vehicles, advance our renewable energy and climate goals, and improve community health. These are truly win-win bills for all Marylanders who value clean air and healthy communities.”
Also today, Tradepoint Atlantic and Orsted hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for an advanced foundation components facility in Sparrows Point.
“The new components facility announced today by Tradepoint Atlantic and Orsted will support – with good-paying union jobs – the development of Maryland’s expanding offshore wind industry,” said Coble. “Maryland has taken solid steps today toward becoming a national leader in clean energy solutions.”
