Maryland LCV Commends State Leaders for Moving Forward with An Economic Analysis of the Impacts of Greenhouse Gas

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 15, 2025) — The Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) commends Maryland leadership’s decision to move forward with an economic analysis of the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions, through the RENEW Act study.

The study will determine the total assessed cost of the emissions, which can then be used for economic planning and drafting policies to address climate change. The analysis will include climate change impacts, such as storm damage and health outcomes.

“We are thrilled the Governor’s Administration and Comptroller are moving ahead with efforts to assess and advance potential funding mechanisms to help Maryland meet its climate goals,” said Maryland LCV Executive Director Kim Coble.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the Administration, the Comptroller, and the General Assembly on finding funding to implement Maryland’s climate plan, in order to have cleaner air and more resilient communities,” Coble continued.
