Maryland LCV Applauds Senate President’s Move to Clean Up Renewable Energy Standards
Maryland LCV applauds Senate President Bill Ferguson’s decision to sponsor legislation that would remove waste-to-energy incineration from Maryland’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). This long-needed step aligns with the recommendations outlined in Maryland’s Climate Pollution Reduction Plan and the Maryland Commission on Climate Change. Removing trash incineration from the RPS will ensure that state incentives and investments are directed towards truly clean, renewable energy sources, supporting Maryland’s ambitious climate goals and improving air quality in communities near incineration facilities.
