Governor’s Signature on Next Generation Energy Act and Reclaim Renewable Energy Act Marks Important Step for Maryland’s Energy Future

Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) extends our thanks to the Maryland General Assembly and Governor Moore for finalizing the Next Generation Energy Act and Reclaim Renewable Energy Act today. These bills represent the culmination of months of hard work, persistent advocacy, and public pressure to advance Maryland’s clean energy goals while protecting ratepayers.

The passage of these bills means progress for Maryland’s energy future, including the removal of waste incineration from our state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard, new protections for utility ratepayers, and long-overdue investments in battery storage projects. These achievements will help position Maryland to meet the growing energy demands while maintaining our commitment to climate action and environmental justice.

As we look ahead, Maryland LCV remains committed to working with elected leaders, community members, and stakeholders to implement these policies effectively and continue building on this progress. We believe today’s signing represents an important step forward in creating a healthier environment for everyone in Maryland.
