Thank you to everyone who supported and attended our 2025 Changemakers event. With over 300 environmental advocates and leaders in attendance, we brought together Maryland’s environmental community for a truly joyous and inspirational evening. We’re proud to say that with your help, we raised over $350,000 to fund our continued efforts to create a healthier environment for everyone in Maryland. Each of us has the power to be a Changemaker. Whether it’s through our vote, our voice, our advocacy, or our everyday actions, we can contribute to building a sustainable and just Maryland that leads by example.

As federal protections face significant setbacks, state leadership for our environment is more important than ever before. This panel explores how Maryland can continue to lead the way through advancing policies that protect our environment, grow our economy, and build climate resilient and thriving communities. From climate action to environmental justice, panelists will discuss how individuals, communities and all levels of government can support environmental sustainability and economic prosperity and ensure no one is left behind.

The Legislator of the Year Awards recognize the leadership of both committee chairs, along with their subcommittee chairs Senator Michael Jackson and Delegate Courtney Watson, in protecting environmental priorities during one of the most challenging budget years in Maryland’s recent history. Despite fiscal constraints, the budget committee leadership preserved $100 million in capital funding for clean energy projects at public schools and state facilities, maintained core funding for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coast Bays Restoration Fund, and protected other key conservation initiatives from deeper cuts.

John V. Kabler Environmental Leadership Award

Honoring YOU: Maryland's Unsung Environmental Heroes!

This year's Kabler Award honors the voters, advocates, donors, and community members whose dedication to the conservation movement has created real change. That's YOU! Every call you've made to your legislator. Every letter to the editor you've written. Every time you've shown up, spoken out, or stepped forward for Maryland's environment – that's what we're celebrating at this year’s Changemakers. Whether through lobby visits, canvassing, or simply making your voice heard, you're building the collective power that protects Maryland's land, air, water, and communities.
