We’re Pumped to Strengthen EmPOWER! / ¡Emocionados de reforzar EmPOWER!

State House Annapolis 91 State Circle, Annapolis, MD, United States

Join us for an invigorating rally to show our support for EmPOWER reform in Annapolis! We'll gather at 11am for refreshments, music, and postcard-writing. Speakers will start at 11:30am or shortly after, when the legislative session breaks for lunch. Boxed lunches will be available for all who register in advance. We will wrap up by 1pm. Why is this so important? EmPOWER was created in 2008 to improve state-wide energy efficiency and is paid for by fees on our utility bills. While the program has created billions in savings, it can and must do more for our health and climate. The reform bill we're supporting with this rally (HB864) will: align the program with state greenhouse gas reduction goals by helping Marylanders switch off fossil fuel equipment to new clean, efficient electric technology like heat pumps, increase the proportion of funds going to improvements for homes and multi-family buildings, mandate multilingual outreach so we don't leave anyone behind, and increase transparency and accountability requirements for utility companies. We need YOU to get this crucial bill over the finish line! Need support getting there? Let us know! We are arranging several buses for groups and carpooling for individuals. Need other accessibility accomodations? Tell us that too and we'll do all [...]
