In October, the annual Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change* was released and included the subtitle, “health at the mercy of fossil fuels.” Join us to discuss the findings of the Lancet Countdown and the accompanying U.S. Brief. Featuring special guest (and Marylander!), Dr. Chelsea Gridley-Smith, Director of Environmental Health at the National Association of County and City Health Officials and reviewer of the U.S. Brief, we will highlight ways to support Maryland-specific policy solutions that correspond with the recommendations in the Brief.

Dr. Chelsea Gridley-Smith is a Director of Environmental Health at the National Association of County and City Health Officials, providing management and leadership over the programmatic areas of Climate Change, Vector Control, Food Safety, Environmental Health Practice, and Water Preparedness. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Lancet Countdown: U.S. Brief Working Group of Reviewers. Dr. Gridley-Smith began her career in biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Albany, State University of New York, School of Public Health.
