The Maryland League of Conservation Voters is excited to announce that Rebecca Rehr, our Director of Climate Policy and Justice, has been selected as a de Beaumont Foundation 40 Under 40 honoree in Public Health. This is an amazing achievement that aligns with our mission and Rebecca’s commitment to public health and environmental justice.
The 40 Under 40 Program
The de Beaumont Foundation’s Public Health 40 Under 40 program was established to recognize extraordinary leaders who are transforming public health across the United States. The honorees represent diverse backgrounds within a broad range of professional roles, united by their approach to improving local public health through a variety of policies and initiatives. As part of this two-year program, Rebecca will have unique opportunities to participate in expert-led virtual workshops, an in-person leadership retreat, and many other career-enhancing activities.
Why This Matters
Health equity and environmental justice are two sides of the same coin. Rebecca’s work serves as an excellent example of how public health and environmental justice can – and should – be intertwined. Through her contributions, she furthers our mission at Maryland LCV by advocating for communities whose health is directly affected by environmental policies and practices.
Rebecca’s Accomplishments
Rebecca joined Maryland LCV in 2022 to lead the organization’s climate policy initiatives, particularly focused on communities overburdened by a history of environmental injustice. Previously, Rebecca served as the director for ecoAmerica’s Climate for Health Program and served as the public policy and advocacy manager at the Maryland Environmental Health Network. Her academic background in environmental studies and public policy from Franklin and Marshall College, and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Maryland, positions her as an authority on health equity and climate solutions.
Please join us in congratulating Rebecca on this well-deserved honor! For more information or to get involved with Maryland LCV’s initiatives, please contact Rebecca directly at rrehr@mdlcv.org.
