Maryland LCV Statement on Senator Manchin’s Refusal to Support Climate Action

In response to the news that Senator Manchin will not support climate action in the Senate reconciliation deal, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters today released the following statement today from Ramon Palencia, deputy executive director, and director of Chispa Maryland:

“A reconciliation and climate package is crucial for Maryland and all states, and especially for our underserved communities who are harmed disproportionately by pollution and climate change.

The appalling lack of progress on the national level, despite the steadfast efforts of our Maryland senators, again drives home how important the work of state legislatures is.

Maryland LCV will continue its efforts to push for national action while working on the state level to elect climate champions across the board who will aggressively implement the Climate Solutions Now Act and take other necessary steps to ensure climate justice throughout Maryland.”
