Maryland Gubernatorial Candidates Outline their Environmental Positions
Read each candidate’s written response to Maryland LCV Education Fund’s Gubernatorial Climate Forum
Maryland LCV is dedicated to maximizing the participation of voters in public policy decisions made at the state and local levels regarding Maryland’s air, land, water, and communities. We seek to expand, deepen, and activate a base of conservation-minded voters around the state and ensure all Marylanders have the information they need to elect strong conservation candidates.
As part of our voter education efforts, in early March, Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and Maryland Matters, along with sponsors and friends, held two gubernatorial forums focused on Climate policy. The events were non-partisan and all candidates who filed for the primary election were invited to attend. The forums provided important insights into how the candidates prioritize environmental action and how they plan to ensure Maryland becomes a national leader in climate solutions.
After the forums, every candidate for governor in Maryland, whether they attended or not, was invited to submit written responses to all of the questions fielded during the both nights of the Gubernatorial Forums. Their responses were limited to 200 words per question and provide more information about their environmental positions. We hope you will take the time to read the candidates’ responses and we further hope you will use this information when you go to the polls to elect Maryland’s next governor.
