In Their Words …
" Keeper of political scorecards on environmental votes, this small but feisty group actually endorses candidates who might be good for green causes. Its small staff proves that you don't need a huge budget to make a difference. Still, more money couldn't hurt. "

Marylanders Plant Trees program one year old and still growing

The Baltimore Examiner

Annapolis, October 23 - Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley acknowledged Marylanders who have planted 22,000 trees during the past year for a "greener, more sustainable future for our children and future generations." O'Malley reminded citizens that the state has a goal to plant 50,000 trees by the end of 2010. With a lot of work yet to be done, the Governor asked for everyone to help plant more trees, this Fall being an excellent time for planting.

In addition, sponsored by the Marylanders Plant Trees program and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, a $25.00 coupon is available towards the purchase of a $50 or greater tree from more than 70 participating nurseries. Click HERE and then click on the "Coupon for $25 Off the purchase of one tree" button in the bottom right corner of the web page.

Anyone who plants a tree and registers it, will be eligible for a monthly drawing. Citizens can win overnight stays at the Rocky Gap Resort, yacht tours of the Chesapeake Bay, locally-grown Christmas trees and Maryland State park passes. Visit Marylanders Plant Trees, browse the web site and start planting!

To make planting trees in Maryland even easier, citizens can also visit the Tree-mendous Maryland web site and, through their Gift of Trees program, the organization will plant trees for them. The program is another way to memorialize, honor or celebrate the life of a loved one. For more information about Gift of Trees, call 410-260-8510.
