Maryland League of Conservation Voters Applauds Governor O'Malley and the BPW for Acquiring 1,043 Acres in Dorchester County

Marsh LandThe Maryland League of Conservation Voters applaud Governor Martin O'Malley and the Board of Public Works (BPW) on their recent approval of the acquisition of 1,043 acres of pine forest and tidal marshland in Dorchester County through Program Open Space (POS). The total number of POS acres preserved by the O'Malley Administration now stands at 25,388.

2009 Kabler Award Night a Big Success

Kieth Campbell and Jim GracieOur John V. Kabler Memorial Award ceremony was a great success, and easily one of Maryland's most exciting environmental events. The room was full of elected officials and community leaders engaged in energized conversation. 2009 is the 30th anniversary of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters and sharing this milestone with so many from across the state was empowering and invigorating. Wow, 30 years of advocacy, action and accountability, where has the time gone!

PLANT and BE COUNTED is a call to Marylanders to plant trees this fall and register them online. This State program offers a $25 coupon to purchase any native tree costing $50 or more from participating nurseries throughout the state.
